Transparency

Studies show that having a safe and trusting relationship with your therapist accounts for approximately 1/3 of therapeutic change.

It is important to me to decrease the power dynamic between me and my clients as much as possible to help foster a sense of safety.

I am happy to answer clients questions about myself so we can start to build a relationship, foster trust, and walk this human journey together.

Specializations

I work with clients with a range of issues, including trauma, stress, relationship problems, concerns about sex, life transitions, anxiety, depression, existential concerns, and spirituality.

Therapy often unveils transformation through the gentle rhythm of gradual change. Embracing a journey of self-discovery and growth, expect subtle shifts that create profound impact over time. It's the small, consistent steps that pave the way toward lasting progress. Through introspection, newfound insights, and supportive guidance, you'll witness the subtle evolution of your thoughts, behaviors, and emotions. These steady changes, though unassuming, lay the foundation for a more empowered, fulfilling life, fostering resilience and lasting transformation

Cristina Sherren, MA, Registered Provisional Psychologist (#P7295)

I became a registered provisional psychologist in 2023 and I have been working in the mental health field since 2016 through various jobs and volunteer experience. Nothing lights me up quite like working with a client and seeing them have an “aha!” moment, where something in their story finally clicks and makes sense.

I like to take a wholistic, empowering, and non-pathologizing approach to my work. We are all people sharing a human experience, and I truly believe that for the most part, people are doing their best with what they have. I want your work with me to feel like it’s a place where you can finally take a deep breath and relax a little bit. I take a collaborative approach where we work together to figure out who you are and what you want. Once we feel secure, safe, and stable, we will plan on how you can make what you want your reality.

History

My time spent working as a Wildfire Fighter in British Columbia inspired me to work in mental health. In this job I saw first-hand the effects of burnout and the mental and emotional toll of being in a culture where it was not acceptable to discuss mental health. After going through the loss of several friends in one summer while firefighting, I decided to pursue my masters of counselling in the hopes that I could one day help more people voice their truth and make mental health care more accessible. I love being around people and having conversations that are meaningful and important and that lead to people feeling seen, heard, safe, and respected.

Enjoyment

So what do I get up to outside of therapy? I love to spend my time playing in the mountains. I enjoy hiking, climbing, cross-country skiing, and mountaineering.  When I’m in the city I love to walk my dog Chai, do yoga, read, meditate, try new places to eat, spend time with the people I love, and experiment making new food.

I work to live and strive for balance in all of my pursuits. I believe that dedicating time to my passions of being outdoors makes me a better psychologist because these experiences give me a more broad perspective and help to ground me.
